How To Art Like A Pro: Avoid Self-Centered Artists

Avoid Self-Centered Artists

When buying art directly from artists it is most desirable to find an artist whose work you like and want to own, but also is an artist that has qualities which make your purchase of art that much more pleasurable. The better artists to deal with are those who make good, quality art, but who also sit down to talk to you and answer all the questions you may have. They have some flexibility in the pricing of their work, and keep in touch with you to check on your satisfaction with your purchase and keep you up-to-date on their career. And artists who are generous, client-focused, flexible and not money-hungry will most likely advance farther in their careers than those not having these qualities.

Artists who are condescending, inflexible, ones who pressure you to buy and ones who try to force you into buying artworks that are out of your price range you would do well to avoid. These also include lesser known artists who charge gallery prices when they are just starting out or ones who think they should be better known than they are. If you do some research, you will find that many artists whose work you enjoy will be a pleasure to work with and a pleasant buying experience will make your art even more enjoyable.
